For my third experiment, I am garnering aspects from my first two projects to ultimately yield a photo essay that details the Shinola Hotel and its surrounding area on Woodward Avenue in Downtown Detroit. This photo essay will incorporate the Shinola Hotel itself, its employees, its surrounding businesses, the streets of Woodward Avenue, and the overall bustling vibe of the rejuvenated district of Detroit. I have ties to this project through fascinations with urban development, interests in candid photography, and two jam-packed trips to Detroit to scope out the scene and immerse myself with local people and sites to see. My goal is to give my audience a first hand perspective of an eventful day trip to Detroit while providing them a cultural and personable lens on the city and its progress.
